Easter Garden in the Cathedral

We used to have quite a small Easter garden in one of thetransepts, says Michael Brierley, the cathedral precentor. But it seemed abit out of the way and a missed opportunity. So weve started creating it rightin the middle of the building, on the quire steps, so that you cant miss it.

"Our service team lays down plastic sheeting, the stonemasonsconstruct the tomb, local garden centres kindly donate plants, ourflower-arrangers decorate it with flowers on Holy Saturday ready for the joy ofthe resurrection, and to visitors amusement, the vergers water the turf during Easter week to keep it going. Its a fantastic visual focus, and the Easter message, explained on a board nearby, touches peoples hearts.

Please pray for all churches creating Easter gardens intheir buildings or churchyards this weekend, that those who see them might befilled with the joy and hope of the risen Christ.
