Kiddminster West Team Vicar, Laura Betson, shares the story of this year's children and families activity week:
Once again this year's Kidderminster West Team Ministry children and families Activity Week was a mixture of online and offline events.
Every day we shared a morning Muddy Church video with an animal-themed outdoor activity, and a reminder to look for signs of God at work in the natural world. Every evening we shared a Bedtime Church video, telling a Bible story about the animal we’d thought about that morning. We heard stories about ravens, lions, sheep and even a snake!
We ran two in-person activity events for children where we shared crafts and activities encouraging us to ‘Go Wild!’ and think about animals, birds and plants in God’s creation. We made animal stained glass, leaf candle holders, and together painted some giant artworks reminding us of God’s great gifts of faith, hope and love!
In the churchyard at St John’s we held a bee trail, with bee facts, activities and Bible verses to discover and learn. This stayed up for a week so it could be used and shared by as many families as possible.
Finally we held a family picnic at St Peter’s church with arts and crafts, parachute games, music, and outdoor games and toys. The rain held off and we had a fabulous time! We were also able to raise some money for a local young woman facing cancer treatment.
Our thanks to everyone who came along, watched online, or prayed for the events. We made lots of new friends and had a great time!
