This edition of Called to Action, small steps to save the planet, looks at Eco Church.
Eco Church is a structured award scheme which recognises and encourages the environmentally positive steps that churches can take. We have committed to becoming an Eco Diocese and would like as many churches as possible to get involved and earn their bronze, silver and gold awards!
Eco Church records practical steps in 5 areas of church life:
- Worship and Teaching
- Buildings
- Land
- Community and Global Engagement
- Lifestyle
It is adaptable and ecumenical and is suitable for a wide range of church buildings and communities. Awards are also available for groups of churches such as Eco Diocese and Eco District.
Eco Church creates a positive buzz within churches and opportunities to engage with your local community on green issues.
If you have any queries or would like to be put in touch with a church near you who are already on the Eco Church journey, do get in touch with the Diocesan Climate Crisis group at: environment@cofe-worcester.org.uk
