Have you considered using the Life Events Diary? This is offered free to all Church of England churches and is an online administration tool to help streamline the administration of baptism, weddings, banns, and funerals.
Rich Hackett, vicar of the Forge group in Greater Dudley deanery said:
“I came into ministry following a nearly 20-year career in IT, working for Cadbury and its parent company. With three churches and two LLMs with permission to conduct funerals, one of the great challenges I face is how to track of my occasional offices - baptism, weddings and funerals? How do we keep their data secure, but be able to contact them individually, or as a group? Wouldn't it be great if we could have a central calendar which told us where we're supposed to be?
The Life Events Diary is the simple answer to this problem - a free tool, funded by the national church to make parish life easier. The tool provides a single, secure location for holding all of our occasional office information.”
Rich will be leading two training sessions on the Life Events Diary to help parishes understand if they might find it useful. The first session will look at what the tool is, how it can be used to make parish life easier, how to capture the information, and get things into the central calendar, and then how to find it again when we need to contact them.
The second session will be a quick recap, and some deeper configuration to help you personalise the system for different roles e.g treasurer, and how the communication tool works.
- Session one - Wednesday 17 May, 7-9pm
- Session two – Wednesday 14 June, 7 – 9pm
