A set of postcards, which can be used in parishes to help facilitate conversations about faith will shortly be distributed with the prayer diary.
Over the last year, Doug Chaplin (Diocesan Lay Training and Discipleship Officer) and Ian Jones (Director of St Peter’s Saltley Trust) have been running a series of focus groups around the Diocese to explore how people talked about growing in faith and being a Christian today.
Doug said: “We used a set of pictures as part of the discussion, and people really came alive when they were talking about their faith using the pictures.” He and Ian decided at the end of the research project to create a set of pictures that could be used in parish and community discussion groups.
“I’m really pleased St Peter’s Saltley Trust has been able to make a grant to fund the research and these postcard sets,” Ian Jones said. “I hope parishes in the Diocese of Worcester, as well as some of the groups the Trust works with, will enjoy using them.”
There will be one postcard set for each benefice, coming out with the next edition of the prayer diary this month, so make sure whoever collects your diaries also collects your set, and see how you can best use it. Some extra sets will also be kept at the diocesan office for churches and groups to borrow. Each set has two copies of 30 different photos.
