The Bishop of Worcester reflects on the lessons we can learn from the past for our present situation. The determination to build a land fit for heroes led to the creation of the NHS we are all committed to protect and support today. As he greets everyone for VE day, Bishop John prays that we will make the most of the present crisis, and the renewal of community feeling, to ensure everyone in our society is truly valued.
The bishop of Dudley has been enjoying the variety of worship lay leaders and clergy have been able to offer over this period of lockdown.
Today is Ascension Day and Bishop John invites you to pray for specific people to come to faith, for Christian values to be shown in our society. "I invite you to pray in short for God's kingdom to come."
Over the next nine days leading up to Pentecost, Bishop Martin will do a short Bible reflection just before midday each day. He will end each one with the first few lines of the Lord's Prayer with the hope that you will finish it in a short time of prayer.
