The Diocese of Worcester Life Assurance Scheme 2013 provides life assurance for stipendiary clergy and stipendiary licensed lay office holders in the Diocese of Worcester. Cover is provided until the member's 75th birthday.
In the event of death in service this provides an additional benefit to that provided by the Church of England Pensions Board. The benefit paid under this scheme is the equivalent of one year's stipend at the rate of the Diocesan Basic Stipend irrespective of the particular office held and there is no distinction between full-time or part-time roles or those posts remunerated on a “house for duty” basis.
Those eligible are invited when appointed to their office to confirm that they wish to be members of the scheme and to nominate their beneficiaries. Forms are available from the HR Co-ordinator.
The nomination form is returned to the HR Co-ordinator in a sealed envelope marked ‘Confidential - Diocese of Worcester Life Assurance Scheme 2013 Expression of Wish Form (name of scheme member)'. This envelope remains unopened other than in the event of the member's death. The envelope and its unopened contents are destroyed when scheme members leave the diocese or retire.
Anyone wishing to make a change to their nominated beneficiaries at any time should contact the HR Co-ordinator.
The Worcester Diocesan Board of Finance Limited (the DBF) is the Trustee of The Diocese of Worcester Life Assurance Scheme 2013.The DBF’s Data Privacy Notice can be read here. On the basis of the Trustee’s legitimate interest to do so the Trustee shares information on a confidential basis with its professional advisors including Quantum Actuarial LLP and via them with the group insurance market.
