Today's Prayer
Community Nativity in Kingswinford
Last Thursday, St Mary’s Church in Kingswinford held their community nativity, giving children across their community an opportunity to come together and retell the nativity story, as well as sing with others, make friends, and perform. Their nativity ‘Shine Star Shine’ contained seven catchy songs retelling the nativity story. It told the story of the big star who needed to show the way to the stable where a special baby had been born but had one problem – he couldn’t shine!
Invites were sent to their baptism families, local schools and participants in their Mainly Music groups as well as shared on social media. Rehearsals were held each Thursday for an hour before family and friends were invited to the performance. Emily Vivash, Director of Music, and Sian Morgan, Children, Youth, and Family Minister, led on the idea. They said: “We hope this nativity will be an outreach event that increases the visibility of our church and gives us more opportunities to get to know the children and families in our community. If it is successful this year, we are hoping it will become an annual event.”
Pray for all who were involved in the community nativity at St Mary’s Church in Kingswinford and for all who have been finding ways
of involving young people in the Christmas story.
