Lunchtime Learning: The Church and the Future of Politics

Speaker: Bishop John

As a member of the House of Lords, Bishop John participates in national political life not only as part of the church’s prophetic voice in society, but as a member of the legislature. The role of bishops in national politics is valued by many and strongly contested by dissenting voices. In this session Bishop John will share some of the reasons why the church needs to bear witness to the demands of faith in the political arena as well as the personal one, reflect on his personal experience as a member of the Upper House, and explore what challenges our church and society face at present, and in the coming years.
