The Stations of the Cross is a traditional devotion following in the imagination (and often around a church building) the last journey of Jesus’s earthly life through the streets of Jerusalem, with fourteen stations or stopping points. It is often used particularly on Wednesdays and Fridays in Lent. Last Lent, our discipleship and lay training officer Doug Chaplin, wrote a sonnet series based on the Stations of the Cross, which he has been revising.
Doug is offering an hour’s mediation on these stations on the Wednesday in Holy Week, using his poems, and illustrated by frescoes from the Roman Catholic Cathedral in Magdeburg (with which we have shared in ecumenical relationship through our partners in the EKM).
