Faith Pictures Taster Day

Many English people feel very uncomfortable talking about their faith. Anglicans in particular have gained a reputation for being quiet about what they believe. In the meantime, English culture has changed around us all, and the majority of people have become a lot more disconnected from the church.

In this changed context, we need to find ways in which we can honestly and gently talk about why we go to church, how we experience God’s love, and what we believe about Jesus.

One of the more recent courses that helped many ordinary church members learn some ways of doing that is one called Faith Pictures, from the Church Army. They have now launched a new, revised, version of that course in the light of feedback, and it is one that could be very useful in churches across Worcester diocese, whatever their tradition.

As part of this launch, we have organised a local “taster” day, open to clergy, lay leaders, and anyone who might want to run a “Faith Pictures” group in their parish. The day will be led by diocesan Dean of Evangelism, Bishop Robert Paterson, and the bishop’s Evangelism Advisor, David Sherwin, and facilitated by diocesan Discipleship and Lay Training Officer, Doug Chaplin.

On the day, participants will cover the introductory session of the course, dip into the materials of several other sessions, and gain an overview of the whole six-week course. There will be opportunity for reflection and the sharing of ideas, and at the end of the day participants should feel confident of running a course in their own parish context.

Both the taster day, and the course materials themselves, are free.

Please book via Eventbrite, and a Zoom link will be sent to you a couple of days ahead of time.
