Doing Communion by Extension well
When necessary, the bishop gives parishes permission to use a service of Holy Communion by Extension instead of a Service of the Word. Parishes need to persuade the bishop that there are exceptional circumstances, and the bishop will grant permission for a set period of time, or specific occasion. When this happens, permission is given to the parish, and will name the people who are going to lead this extended distribution of Holy Communion.
The bishop expects that parishes will normally ask Licensed Lay Ministers first, then ALM Worship Leaders, but other appropriate lay leaders may also be named. You may therefore particularly benefit from this training if you are an LLM or Worship Leader ALM.
The session will be delivered by Doug Chaplin, who is the Bishop’s Advisor on Worship and Liturgy as well as the diocesan Discipleship and Lay Training Officer.
