Mission Enablers

Each of these placements will look very different as the Mission Enabler with the help of others reflects on the local context: the opportunities there are to grow and resource the existing work with Children, Young People and their families; the needs of the present volunteers and then what new areas of engagement could be developed during their year there and into the future. The first three placements are very much ‘pilot’ ones where we will all be learning together how to do this new way of working well.

Meet the team!

Anne Batchelor

Helping St. Michael’s & All Angels,Norton and St. James, Wollaston, plus St. Mary’s, Oldswinford.

I live in Redditch in Worcestershire with Richard my husband. I am blessed to be Mum to Luke, Beth and Megan, and Grandparent to Noah, Rohan, Harry and Lottie.

Richard and I are slowly renovating our terraced cottage and garden. Whenever we can we enjoy escaping to Brixham in Devon for a few days walking and the best fish and chips in the world!

Last year I worked with St. Thomas Church in the centre of Stourbridge, encouraging and supporting them in their outreach and mission with young people and their families; in the summer of 2017 I also started some work with St. Mary’s at Old Swinford.

Since April this year, I am working alongside the benefice of St. Michael’s & All Angels – Norton and St. James – Wollaston, plus continuing with St. Mary’s.

I’m very much enjoying being based in and around Stourbridge and am looking forward to continuing “walking” with churches as they discern and develop mission in their communities.

Helen Laird

Helping the teams of Halas and Gornal and Sedgley, St Wulstans & Malvern Link with Cowleigh

I live in Worcester, married to husband Jamie and we have two grown up children who both live in London, and we have a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel called Tilly, who takes us on nice long walks.

Before working with Worcester Diocese, I was a children's and youth worker for over ten years.  I am enjoying being a part of the Calling Young Disciples project, which encourages churches to work intentionally with the children and young people in their communities; this has enabled me to work alongside some wonderfully gifted people within the diocese, with whom I have worked on some great new projects, like Halas High 5’s, Brick Church, Teddy Bear Picnics  and setting up new Open the Book Teams, as part of the project I have also headed up the Baptism Books resource.

Adam Legge

Currently Supporting Churches and Parishes in Kidderminster East and West, Worcester North and Pedmore.

I have enjoyed the last three years supporting a wide range of churches across the diocese, helping with various projects, such as youth work or messy church, while supporting the churches how to think about their engagement with families in their local communities. It is an exciting time for the church to be engaging with thinking and acting around how it can meet the needs of the diverse communities they serve, while remaining missionally focused to spread the good news of Jesus Christ.

Amy Stokes

Helping the Dudley team of churches, and working actively with Lye, and the Listening Service in both Bromsgrove and Redditch

I have worked as a professional youth worker for 11 years in both church settings and also in the education and charity sectors. As a Mission Enabler I have worked with the parishes of Bromsgrove, Lye, Dudley, Cradley Heath and Redditch. I am particularly passionate about children, young people and families who struggle to engage with traditional worship- find their own space to relate to what the church stands for and has to offer. The most fulfilling part of my role is seeing both clergy and lay leaders recognise and embrace their crucial roles in reaching their community for the gospel and seeing the energy, confidence and joy that emerges as a result
