Following the positive impact of the previous funding made available under the Minor Repairs and Improvements Grant Fund and the Net Zero Carbon Quick Wins Grant, our diocese has been awarded further funds by the Church Commissioners for our churches.

Minor Repairs and Improvements

We have been allocated a further £93,000 to give as grants towards small-scale repairs and improvements to churches in the Diocese. In addition, the Diocese Board of Finance has agreed to match fund an equal amount through using the proceeds of a recent sale of a closed church which brings the total amount available to £186,000.

Net Zero Carbon Quick Wins Grant

We have an allocation of £90,700 to give as grants that will enable parishes to implement small scale net zero carbon works to help reduce their church building’s/church hall’s carbon footprint.

Applications

If you have a (potential) project for either fund, the first thing to do is to read the guidance and eligibility information for the relevant scheme available on our website here, especially as some of the eligibility criteria have changed from the last phase.

Churches are eligible to receive a repair, improvement or net zero grant even if they received a grant under one or both schemes in the first phase of funding.

Grants will usually only be considered for PCCs that are up-to-date with their Ministry Share payments.

Based on experience from the last phase, the Church Buildings team are adopting a two-stage application process which involves an initial Expression of Interest (EOI) followed by an invitation to apply if the project is eligible. We hope this will make it easier for applicants to provide the required information.
