Ordinations 2023

Last years' deacons with the bishopsThis year’s ordinations will take place over the weekend of 1 and 2 July.

Curates who have completed their first year of training will be ordained Priest on Saturday 1 July at 2pm. After their ordination, they will be able to preside at Holy Communion. Those entering curacy will be ordained Deacon at 10.30am on Sunday 2 July and will begin stipendiary (paid) or non-stipendiary (voluntary) roles in parishes across the Diocese.

All of those being ordained this weekend will have undergone a process of discernment to understand that this is the particular vocation that God has called them to. Priests are called to shepherd and lead people in their worship of God and mission to the world. They do this through a ministry of word and sacrament.
