Marco Longhi MP for Dudley North came to visit Top Church in Dudley today at the invitation of Bishop Martin.
They were welcomed by James Treasure, as Vicar of Top Church, who introduced Mr Longhi to the team working to build church and community in the heart of Dudley. A highlight of the visit was underground to the 800 year old crypt beneath the church. This contains a remarkable water cistern that brought fresh water to the people of Dudley in the 19th century, bringing an end to a terrible cholera epidemic.
Bishop Martin said:
“We were honoured to receive Marco Longhi MP at the iconic Top Church in Dudley, on the anniversary of his election. James Treasure and the people of Top Church are finding life and hope at the heart of Dudley and it was good to share something of their vision for the future with Mr Longhi and to think how we can work together for the common good.”
