Headteachers and senior leaders from across the Diocese came together on 19 June for their annual conference, a day of worship, reflection and professional learning focused on the theme Vision in Action.

The day began with worship at Worcester Cathedral, led by Archdeacon Mark and accompanied by the choir of St Clement’s CE Primary School. Delegates then moved to the Guildhall, where they were welcomed by the choir of St Barnabas CE Primary School.

The conference featured a varied and thought-provoking programme of keynote contributions. Delegates heard a video message from Bishop Hugh, before Andy Spens, Head of Professional Learning at the National Society for Education, explored the relationship between the Schools’ White Paper and the Church of England’s Vision for Education.

The programme continued with the Bishop of Gloucester, Rachel Treweek, speaking on Flourishing and Children and reflecting on lessons that could be learned from her transformational campaign work.

The day concluded with an inspiring address from Kate Bottley, Church of England vicar, journalist, radio presenter and TV personality, who talked about her experiences as both a secondary school teacher and life since ordination with great humour and realism.

More than 100 delegates attended the conference, who offered incredibly positivh feedback from the day. The event provided an opportunity for school leaders to reflect on vision, flourishing, and the role of a Church School education in supporting children and communities.
