Celebrating children, youth and family ministries

A special service will be held in the Cathedral next month to celebrate all those who work with children, young people and families in our churches, and everyone is invited!

The service will be led by Bishop Hugh and will take place on Sunday 18 October 2026 at 3pm in Worcester Cathedral.

“There is so much to celebrate!” says Programme Lead Sian Morgan. “Across our diocese, in parishes, schools and communities, people are creating places where children and young people can belong, encounter God, explore faith and flourish. We want to shine a light on this important ministry and give thanks for where and how God is already working through his faithful servants!”

This celebration is for the whole diocesan family. Whether you are a member of clergy, a church leader, volunteer, PCC member or someone who longs to see children and young people flourish within the life of our diocese, you are warmly invited to come along.

As part of the celebration, we will commission and pray for our employed Children, Youth and Families team, recognising the vital ministry they offer within their churches and communities and our shared commitment to supporting and encouraging them in their work.

We shall also formally commission Sian Morgan, our new Programme Lead for Children, Young People and Families, marking an exciting new chapter as we strengthen our diocesan commitment to children, young people and families and seek to equip, encourage and connect those involved in this vital ministry.

Come and celebrate what God is doing, encourage those who serve, pray for the journey ahead and be part of this exciting next chapter for Children, Young People and Families ministry in the Diocese of Worcester.

Please help us in sharing the invitation to this joyful celebration. Please ‘share’ the post on our socials or email smorgan@cofe-worcester.org.uk for digital elements that can be added to newsletters or printed to display in church.
