This event is firstly for new ALMs, but is open to existing ALMs and anyone else who is interested. (New ALMs are asked to complete sessions on the Bible, the Creeds, and Spirituality after they’re authorised, and this is the session on the Bible.)
When we engage in ministry, it is important that we root ourselves not only in scripture and the faith of the church (our previous two sessions in this series), but above all in prayer, cultivating our own relationship with God. For clergy, there is an expectation that this will involve praying forms of morning and evening prayer authorised by the church. For lay ministers, there is a strong encouragement both to find a consistent pattern of personal prayer, and to engage in the corporate praying life of the church, and not only when we are ministering.
This session will be led by Sister Jessica OSB from Mucknell Abbey, reflecting with us on patterns and approaches to prayer, and inviting us to explore some different approaches to prayer.
