This course is mandatory for all foundation governor roles where you are new or have been reappointed to a church school board. It is also encouraged for those who wish to refresh their knowledge and understanding.
New for this year: separate sessions will be offered for foundation governors in maintained schools, foundation directors on academy trust boards, and foundation governors serving at local school board level within an academy trust.
This training session will address the following key areas:
- statutory responsibilities and core function of governance – links to key documents
- a history of church schools and how context is key
- Church of England and national developments in education
- structure of governing boards- your role as a governor and how it fits in
- particular responsibilities of a foundation governor
- SIAMS church school inspection: increase your understanding and discover how to strengthen
- your role in this process.
