Local artists displaying their creations on a stall at Hallow church Arts and Crafts FayreWest Worcester Beacon, a four-church benefice, has held successful Arts events at two of their churches in the last couple of months, celebrating local artists and bringing the whole community together.

Back in May, Holt Church held a weekend Arts festival fundraiser which was orchestrated by Ali Cook and Christine Benson and raised £1500 for the Holt church window appeal.

A rich tapestry of creative talent caught the eye as visitors flocked to the church. The historic Grade I listed church provided a great backdrop for local artists and pupils from Grimley and Holt Primary School to showcase their stunning creations. Visitors also enjoyed exploring a plant sale before relaxing with some delicious refreshments, including mouth-watering home-made cakes. Painted canvases, embroidery and other creations are displayed on church pews at Hallow

In June, Hallow church also hosted a weekend Arts and Craft fayre.

Assistant Curate Paul Wilcox said:

“I just love how folk rally round to help out and pull off these events; from the Scouts loaning and erecting a marquee, to all those who brought craft exhibitions, and the exquisite textile work from Calamanco, to the army of people serving refreshments and putting up and taking down banners, to the fabulous Oakville Singers’ concert, to the bustling children’s craft table and trail, to the financial support from the Parish Council…the list goes on!”

The benefice is planning more fundraising events later in the year including a Christmas Tree Festival which will light up Holt church on 7 and 8 December.
