Mary and Joseph to travel the Diocese

Models of Mary Joseph and a donkey on the altar at Claines churchDuring Advent this year, Mary and Joseph will be travelling around the Diocese as they journey towards the Cathedral for Christmas Eve.

The diocesan posada will spend four days in each deanery, spending time with congregations, community groups and schools as well as the occasional pub!

Posada is the Spanish word for lodging or accommodation, so each stop on this journey is their lodging for the night, representing the lodging places Mary and Joseph stayed at on their way to Bethlehem.Doug Chaplin with Rachel Cramp standing at the altar at Claines Church handing over the posada figures

They headed off on their journey this week ready to spend Sunday 1 December with Claines and St George’s Churches in Worcester. On Monday they will visit St Wulstan’s Church and St Barnabas CE Primary in the city before heading off around the Diocese.
