Stuart Currie to retire

Bishop’s Chaplain, Stuart Currie will be retiring from his role at the end of August. Stuart joined our diocese in 1994 as Vicar of St Stephen’s Church in Worcester and for the past ten years has been Bishop’s Chaplain to both Bishop John and Bishop Hugh.

Ordinations 2026

Could you join a Worcester/ Hereford diocesan cricket team?

Following last year’s heroic (but defeated) efforts with players from Worcester joining with colleagues in Hereford to play a cricket match against the might of Lichfield Diocese, an invitation to join forces for a match (or matches) this year has been received.

Chrism Eucharist 2026

On the Monday of Holy Week, many of our clergy and lay ministers gathered in the Cathedral for the Chrism Eucharist. This service includes a rededication of all those in ministry to their calling and the blessing of the oils that are used in services throughout the year.

Supporting women in Ministry

Some of our ordained women gathered in Worcester last week for a ministry morning in response to issues of misogyny and harassment. The aim was to offer a confidential, safe space where women could reflect together and support one another.

A sabbatical for Bishop Martin

Initial feedback from wellbeing survey

Thank you to those clergy and Readers who responded to our wellbeing survey at the end of last year. We were delighted that 40% of clergy and almost 50% of LLMs provided feedback on how they were currently feeling and what more we might be able to do to help.


Piloting the new Buildings Management Portal

Rosemary Lawley - RIP

Canon Rosemary Lawley sadly died on 11 January following a battle with MND. Her funeral will take place on Monday 16 February at 12 noon at St Mary’s in Kidderminster.

Tackling sexual harassment and misogyny

Helping Stewardship – the Anglican Giving Survey 2025

Last year, the National Giving Team with nfpResearch, conducted a survey of 2,000 Anglicans to discover more about their giving habits. This has provided some good news for our churches and has helped give a focus to strengthen stewardship over the next few years and build healthy and sustainable churches.

Wulfstan Cross presented to Dick Johnson

Franciscan Peace Pilgrimage

19th May 2026

2026 is 800 years since the death of St Francis. To mark this anniversary, Franciscans are planning a pilgrimage which will begin in Almouth and finish in London, visiting all the Franciscan houses - it will come through our diocese in August and they'd love people to join them!
