Digital giving grows across the Diocese

2026 has seen a considerable increase in digital giving in our churches. In the first quarter of this year, giving via contactless, QR codes and online campaigns was £99,481, compared to £61,236 in the first quarter of 2025.

St Peter, Malvern opens as a 'cool space'

St Peter’s Church in Cowleigh, Malvern has welcomed local residents into its air conditioned building during the recent hot weather, providing a cool refuge from the soaring temperatures. Around 100 people came into the building to shelter from the heat outside.

New Area Deans appointed

Two new Area Deans have been appointed with Phil Bradford becoming Area Dean for Worcester and Glenn Reading becoming Area Dean of Pershore and Evesham when Sarah Dangerfield steps down at the end of the month.

St Thomas Stourbridge Uniform Bank extends across Dudley

St Thomas church in Stourbridge are set to run a school uniform bank this summer which will be bigger than ever, expanding across Lye and Tipton. This will help more families in Dudley and Smethwick by providing them with free pre-loved school uniform.

Historic trowel found and returned to Netherton Church

A 199-year-old trowel that was used to lay the foundation stone at St Andrew’s Church in Netherton, has been returned to the church as a £1.7m restoration campaign gets under way.

St Johns Halesowen launch accessible New Worshipping Community

St John’s church in Halesowen recently launched a new worshipping community in partnership with a local charity called Halas Homes, to make church more accessible for their service users; vulnerable adults with disabilities and learning difficulties.

Supporting refugees through sewing

The Chapter House at the Cathedral is currently hosting a vibrant exhibition of quilts as part of Refugee Week (15–21 June). Many of the quilts were produced as part of a group which supports refugees in Evesham. Bishop Hugh visited to hear more and bless the exhibition.

Bug hotels at Holy Trinity Malvern

The Malvern Link Rainbows recently filled Bug Hotels to put in the churchyard at Holy Trinity Church, Malvern, which had been made at the 'Men's Shed' which meets near the church.

Prayer Ministry morning

Sharing funding for others' benefit

One of the key elements of our renewal churches is that they will resource other local churches. St Stephen’s Church in Redditch did that when they decided to return the funding allocated to them by the national church to improve their building. This generosity will enable other renewal churches to complete their own building works.
