Young people aged between 11 and 18 were encouraged to prepare a short talk on the Theme of ‘Love Your Neighbour’ and film themselves delivering it. 17-year-old Solomon was the winner at Spring Harvest Skegness and delivered his talk there on Good Friday.

Solomon said: “Ever since I properly started following Jesus, it’s been on my heart to share the gospel and encourage other Christians in their faith. So, when I saw the chance to potentially speak at Spring Harvest, go on a radio station, and even win £125 and some great books, I couldn’t not go for it. I spent time praying and thinking about what God wanted me to say, set up my dad’s camera and lighting, and just went for it.

“For the past two years I’ve been posting preaching videos most days on my social media, “soli._speaks”, so this felt like a great chance to use everything I’ve been learning in something bigger.Solomon standing on the stage at Spring Harvest with his hands clasped together

“Speaking is something I really want to keep doing. This summer I’m heading out to Kenya on mission, where I’ll be speaking at youth conferences with thousands of people, which is crazy but amazing. So this opportunity felt too good to miss. My preach will be available from Friday, all about how we can love God and love people, and I’d really appreciate your prayers too.”

The broad theme for the preach videos was ‘Love your Neighbour’ based around the scripture Mark 12: 30-31. Solomon’s talk needed to be five minutes or shorter and he won a prize of £125 and a book bundle. He will also have the chance to tour the new Premier Studios in London, to be interviewed on the radio and to record his talk for Premier.

Solomon will be joining two young people from St Andrew’s Malvern on a youth mission to Kenya this summer,  where they will help out at a youth conference in Nairobi and churches in that area. You can support them on their  GoFundMe page.

He is also working on a social media app called Godspace, a platform where Gen Z Christians can connect and build real relationships: https://godspace.base44.app/
